Both aesthetic-injectable treatments are produced by Allergan, a nationally respected company, and are approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). BOTOX Cosmetic is often used to relax the dominant frown muscles between the eyebrows, allowing the two vertical lines between the brows to temporarily diminish in appearance. Juvederm dermal fillers work differently, instantly filling in and smoothing out wrinkles and folds such as the “nasolabia” that look like parentheses along the side of one’s nose and mouth – and creating a smooth, natural look. “There are many persons seeking to capitalize on these type ‘cosmetic’ procedures,” says Dr. Woon. “Unfortunately, not all practitioners are created equal or have the same training and experience as a physician.”

Both procedures can be performed fairly quickly and require minimal downtime. Following a complimentary facial analysis by Dr. Woon, as well as a discussion of desired outcomes, each treatment take an average of 15 minutes to perform during a brief, in-office visit.
