What is BOTOX used for?
BOTOX® Cosmetic Botulinum Toxin Type A was approved by the FDA in 2002 for the treatment of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in individuals from age 18 to 65.

How is BOTOX® administered?
During treatment, very low doses of BOTOX® are administered through a few tiny injections directly into the muscles responsible for frown lines between the brows. Injections must be carefully placed by an experienced medical doctor to achieve optimal results. Results last for up to four months.

Does BOTOX® require anesthesia?
No anesthesia is required for this procedure. Dr. Woon may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream prior to injecting.

How long is a BOTOX® treatment session?
The entire procedure takes about 15 minutes and there is no downtime afterward! You are generally able to resume your normal activities immediately after your procedure.

What are common side effects of BOTOX® treatments?
After your procedure, minimal bruising around the injection site may occur. Temporary eyelid droop and nausea have been reported on occasion. Localized pain, inflammation, tenderness, swelling/redness and/or bleeding/bruising may be associated with the injection.

What kind of results are possible with BOTOX®?
BOTOX® has been proven to be remarkably effective at reducing the appearance of severe lines between the eyebrows. A survey by the Aesthetic Surgery Education & Research Foundation (ASERF) reported that 97 percent of the 1,048 study participants were satisfied with the results of their treatments. By day 30 in a phase 3 clinical study, 89 percent of patients judged the severity of their frown lines between their brows as moderate or better.

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) in its 2006 statistics report, BOTOX® Cosmetic was the most popular physician-administered cosmetic procedure in the United States for the fifth year in a row.
