Jeffrey
C. Whitsett, M.D., is an experienced surgeon specializing
in refractive, cataract and glaucoma surgery. He lectures
across the country to fellow ophthalmologists about the
newest, most innovative procedures in cataract and refractive
surgery.
He received his Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University
of Oklahoma, and then moved to Phoenix, Arizona, to complete
his internship with the Good Samaritan Medical Center. After
completing his residency with the Dean A. McGee Eye Institute
in 1990, he accepted a fellowship in glaucoma at The University
of Texas-Houston in affiliation with Houston Eye Associates.
Dr. Whitsett was an investigator on the FDA protocol for
Excimer laser surgery to treat myopia and astigmatism with
PRK and LASIK. He was named as one of the top 100 refractive
surgeons in the country by VISX, the leading manufacturer
of excimer lasers. Dr. Whitsett performs small incision,
no-stitch cataract surgery with topical anesthesia. He also
offers multifocal implant lens to patients who qualify.
A certified physician with the American Board of Ophthalmology,
he is also a member of the International Society of Refractive
Surgery, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and has been
appointed to the Practicing Ophthalmologists Advisory Committee
on Education by the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
His wife, Mary Ann, is a physician specializing in Occupational
Medicine. They have four children, Cory, Christin, Mary
Claire, and Catherine. He enjoys golf, basketball (he received
a basketball scholarship in college), and trying to keep
up with his children.
