Not all LASIK surgeons have the same experience. Whether you select Dr. Whitsett or another doctor, candidates should evaluate the following before proceeding with LASIK surgery:

  1. Is your surgeon board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology? Board-certified doctors have undergone additional training and testing.
  2. Is your LASIK surgeon involved in the process of determining your measurements in advance of surgery? Is he the same doctor who will perform your surgery?
  3. Does your LASIK surgeon have experience successfully treating challenging or complicated cases, not just routine ones?
  4. Is your LASIK surgeon responsive to your questions prior to surgery, and does he provide a realistic assessment of your potential based on your lifestyle needs?
  5. What is your LASIK surgeon’s safety record? Does he sterilize and use new disposable instruments for each patient?
  6. Does your LASIK surgeon take care of post-operative concerns or problems?
  7. What is your LASIK surgeon’s enhancement rate?
  8. How many procedures does your LASIK surgeon perform weekly?
  9. How many total procedures has your LASIK surgeon performed?
  10. What is your LASIK surgeon’s success rate?
