ReZOOMtm: The Latest Entry into the Intraocular Lens Market
First, Crystalens gained FDA approval for its floating lens. Then, Alcon’s ReSTOR did likewise with its fixed position multifocal lens. The ReZoom Multifocal Lens produced by Advanced Medical Optics (AMO) is the latest advancement to help individuals over 50 end their need for bifocals. It also can benefit cataract patients.
The ReZoom is uniquely designed with advanced optical zones that provide good vision across a range of distances and light conditions. This optical system, called Balanced View Optics ™ technology, allows one to see near, far and in between in BOTH bright light and low light conditions. ReZoom helps facilitate five focusing zones for a full range of vision (listed in order from outer to the innermost ring of the lens):
Low light/distance-dominant zone: Provides additional distance-dominance support in low light conditions such as driving at night, when pupils are dilated.
Near-dominant zone: Provides good near vision in a range of light conditions.
Distance zone: Supports good distance vision in moderate to low light conditions.
Near-dominant zone: Provides additional near vision in a broad range of moderate to low light conditions.
Bright light/distance/dominant zone: Supports bright/distance conditions such as driving in daylight, when pupils are constricted.
Based on results from an AMO study, 92 percent who have benefited from the technology used in ReZoom Multifocal Lenses report wearing glasses never or occasionally.
