Cybele
Woon, M.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist with
subspeciality training in neuro ophthalmology. She is experienced
in medical retina care, too.
Before joining The Whisett Vision Group, Dr. Woon was in
private practice with Columbus Eye Associates in Columbus,
Texas, for five years. Her initial medical practice was
as an associate of Charles Garcia, M.D., from 1995 to 1997.
American-born, Dr. Woon earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree
in Biochemistry from The University of Texas in Austin in
1986. She obtained her Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1990
from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
She served a one-year internship thereafter at St. Joseph
Hospital in Houston under the direction of Ethan Natelson,
M.D. From 1991 to 1994, Dr. Woon gained her residency training
in the Department of Ophthalmology at The University of
Texas Medical School at Houston under the tutelage of Chairman
Richard Ruiz, M.D.
Dr. Woon received her fellowship training in neuro-ophthalmology
by Rosa Tang M.D., in the Department of Ophthalmology at
The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.
Dr. Woon has served as an adjunct associate professor at
the University of Houston College of Optometry. Additionally,
she is a member of the Houston Ophthalmology Society, the
Texas Ophthalmologic Association, the Texas Ophthalmological
Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the
North-American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society.
She is the proud parent of daughter Regan and son Kai.
When not practicing medicine or being a mother, Dr. Woon
enjoys weight training and playing the piano.
Dr. Woon is fluent in Mandarin Chinese as well as Spanish.
